Scientific profile

My main scientific project is the YAGO knowledge base. The original paper from 2007 has attracted more than 2000 citations so far. The KB is used in numerous projects around the world, among others DBpedia and the IBM Watson Project. YAGO has given rise to the YAGO-NAGA project at the Max Planck Institute, where around a dozen researchers now work on key questions of semantic information processing. The KB is continuously being developed, with half a dozen follow-up publications.

Since then, I have moved beyond the construction of KBs, and advanced into the application, the mining, and the maintenance of knowledge. Therefore, a large part of my citations come from publications in very diverse areas: information extraction, Web services, watermarking of knowledge bases, information retrieval, ontology matching, social tagging, and inductive logic programming.

All my publications are available on my homepage.

Industrial Research Experience at Microsoft

I was working in the Microsoft Research Search Labs team on the shopping portal of the Bing search engine.

In 2012, the shopping portal of Bing was successfully discontinued. The research lab was shut down two years later.
