============== Goal ============== Thank you for participating in our user study on computational creativity! We have developed an algorithm that “creatively” proposes new concepts, such as, e.g., “A traffic light that serves to watch TV”. We aim to find out whether the concepts we generate can be imagined. In the example, a traffic light that displays TV shows can be imagined. It may not be useful or feasible, but it can be imagined. ============== Task ============== In the user study, you will go through a list of such new concepts, and classify each of them into the following categories: (0) This does not talk about a physical object Our goal is to propose new objects. However, our database also contains non-physical things (such as people, events, or abstract things) that we could not automatically filter out. If you hit such a thing, tick the answer 0. (1) This already exists in the real world For example, “A car that is blue” already exists in the real world. Not all cars are blue, but blue cars definitively exist. (2) I can imagine this For example, “A car that is not used to travel in the street” can be imagined. The car could be used for any other purpose, not used at all, or used to travel underground instead. Again, do not judge whether this is feasible or useful, just tell us if it can be imagined. (3) I can imagine this, and it is actually funny or creative In some cases, we may generate something that makes you smile or think. Then tick this answer. (4) This is nonsense For example, there is no way to imagine “An idea that is green”, because ideas are abstract things and green is a color. (5) I don't understand the words or the phrasing The words and phrases are generated automatically, and sometimes they just don't make sense. For example “A car that has a louwscbwz”. Then tick answer 5. ============== Details ============== We are interested in the concepts, and not in the way they are written. So do not be picky about the phrasing. For example, you will see things like “A car that is not not capable of flying”. This means “A car that is capable of flying”, and we just did not find a way to generate a cleaner sentence. To tick an answer, write an “x” as first character in the line. For example: x (3) I can imagine this, and it is actually funny or creative Please use this format and no other one, so that we can automatically process the answers!
